“Cheap Trick” is a band which was an excellent remix of pop, rock, heavy metal and punk. Formed in 1973 in Illinois, this American band consisted of Robin Zander (Vocals), Rick Nielsen (Guitars), Tom Petersson (Bass) and Bun E. Carlos (Drums). Their self titled debut album in 1977 did not fare that well, but the second album “In Color” the same year was more polished and successful. Their commercial worldwide break through was resulted with their 1978 live album “At Budokan.” “At Budokan” was an unexpectedly successful album, recorded during their 1978 Japan tour. It was originally released in Japan only but later due to excessively high demand, it was released worldwide and became their most successful album ever. With various ups and downs, they have been constantly making music and touring all over the world, going strong till present date.

“Scorpions” are one of the most popular hard rock/heavy metal bands from the late sixties and going on strong till present. Formed in 1965 by Rudolf Schenker in Germany, they were able to establish themselves as hard rock band from the early days. However, with addition of Rudolf’s brother Michael Schenker as guitarist and Klaus Meine as vocalists, the band skyrocketed from Germany into the entire world. Various line-up changes followed during their career. The addition of Matthias Jabs as lead guitarist in 1978 shifted the band into more heavy metal sound along with prototype hard rock ballads. Endowed with total 18 studio albums till date, they have had numerous accolades and loyal fan following all over the world. They have been considered as “The Heroes of Heavy Metal” by The Rolling Stones and “Ambassadors of Rock” by MTV and were ranked 46th on VH1’s Greatest Artists of hard Rock.

Born in 1954 in Texas, he was into blues since his early days, along with his brother Jimmy Vaughan. He became highlighted when he was hired by David Bowie as lead guitarist for his album “Let’s Dance.” With his band Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble’s debut album “Texas Flood” in 1982, Stevie consolidated his status as a cult white blues guitarists. “Elton John”, born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, is one of the richest acts in the music industry. Born in Middlesex with troubled childhood, he was a musical prodigy as a child. He began his unique song writing partnership with Bernie Taupin in his early career and the duo became one of the most successful song writing partnerships ever which has lasted for more than 50 years. Undoubtedly famous for his numerous hits, extravagant stage shows, flamboyant lifestyle, proclaimed bisexuality and gay marriage, political controversies, along with love for football, charity work and AIDS foundation, he has definitely lived the life of a King!

Dust in the wind

Reviewers- Bikash Shrestha/Nirab Kayastha

“Kansas” is one of the most well known AOR/progressive rock band, which gained much popularity during late seventies. Formed in Topeka in 1970, they originally comprised of Kerry Livgren (Guitars), Dave Hope (Bass) and Phil Ehart (Drums). Later, addition of Robbie Steinhardt (Violin), then Steve Walsh (Vocals) and Richard Williams (Guitars) completed the line up. With nine gold albums, three multi platinum albums, one platinum album, they have conquered the rock scene of the late seventies and eighties. However, in due course of time, they had numerous changes but they are still going strong with many newer artists. Dwindling between AOR/Pop rock and progressive rock, they had numerous noteworthy songs which are still regularly played on the classic rock stations.
