Come and see me

“Fanny” may be an uncommon name for many rock fans of the past and the present. However, this all female American band is considered as one of the first all female bands to be signed by a major label when they were signed by Reprise Records in 1969. Although they had a short lived musical career, they have successfully paved the pathway for later all female bands like “The Runaways”, “The Go Go’s”, “The Bangles” etc. Although they could never get the credit they deserved, they have been highly praised by giants like David Bowie and George Harrison. Regardless of their all female composition, they were always aware that they had to be respected musically and they always strived for their musical skill rather than anything else. And no wonder, today, the rock fans adore them for their musical genius and prowess.

Sisters June Millington (Guitars, vocals) and Jean Millignton (Bass, vocals), along with Nickey Barclay (Keyboards) and drummer Alice de Buhr had formed “Wild Honey” during late sixties. Later, they renamed themselves as “Fanny” in 1969 while signing to Reprise Records. With this line up, they produced four albums during the mid-seventies and had created much buzz around the rock circle. At one time, they were considered as a band who would be opening for almost every band.

“Come and see me” is the first song from their debut album “Fanny”, produced in 1970. This song is a smooth, melodic, charming ballad with easy going air and delicate finesse. This song represents the true spirit of the band and forces any serious listener to appreciate this band with awe and revere. The song starts with a catchy piano hook by Barclay, and then Millignton sisters’ guitar takes over. June’s vocals goes amazingly soothingly with the dreamy lyrics describing the sun, rain, winter, snow and love. The intermediate organ and guitar solo is another striking part of this lovely ballad. With simple organs, charming lyrics, and mesmerizing vocals, the song captivates the listener with a spellbinding aura.

Yes, “Fanny” has always been considered as one underrated rock band, but “Come and see me” truly calls for the fans to come and appreciate the band!!! Happy listening!!! Resources- Wikipedia.org, allmusic.com

 Come and hold me

Come on and see me baby

Sleepy time in the winter time
Sleepy time in the winter time
Come and hold me
Waterfall upon my roof
Waterfall upon my roof
Come and hold me

Wanna see the sunrise
So you wanna see the sunrise
Come on and hold me
Waterfall upon my roof
Waterfall upon my roof
Come and hold me

Wanna see the sunshine
So you wanna feel the sunshine
Come on and hold me

Come on and see me baby
Waterfall upon my roof
Waterfall upon my roof
Come and hold me

Sleepy time in the winter time
Sleepy dreamy winter time
Come on and hold me (Sleepy dreamy winter time)
Come on and see me baby (Sleepy dreamy winter time)
Come on and hold me (Sleepy dreamy winter time)
Come on, come on, come on, come on (Sleepy dreamy winter time)
Come on and feel me baby (Sleepy dreamy winter time)
Come on and hold me (Sleepy dreamy winter time)
Come on, come on
