Dave Edmunds may not be a common name for most rock enthusiasts. However, he is an important figure in the rock scene with numerous hits to his credit, including “Baby I love you”, “I hear you knocking”, “Born to be with you” etc. He is a Welsh singer, guitarist and record producer. With natural inclination towards rock ‘n’ roll, he is famous for his numerous hit singles in the seventies, especially in the area of pub rock and new wave. He had formed a short lived band “Love Sculpture” with amazing guitar hit-Sabre dance, and then moved on to remake the classics in his own studio and worked solo as well as in collaboration. He did have amazing remakes of the classics and almost all of them made their mark on the charts.

“Argent” is an English band formed by keyboardist Rod Argent after the break-up of “The Zombies” in the late sixties. With his cousin Jim Rodford, drummer Bob Henrit and guitarist/keyboardist Russ Ballard (Both former members of “The Roulettes” and “Unit 4 + 2), Rod took up the task of starting a band with the harmony and tune of “The Zombies” and the potential of any amazing progressive rock band. And Argent did complete that task successfully, with hit singles and impressive rock numbers.

“Three Dog Night” is an uncommon name for many rock fans. Originated in Los Angeles, California, USA in 1967, they have been credited with numerous Billboard Top 40 Hits and interestingly, they helped many songwriters to the contemporary audiences by making their songs famous. Songs like “Joy to the world” (Hoyt Axton), “Pieces of April” (Dave Loggins), “One” (Harry Nilsson), “Mama told me not to come” (Randy Newman) definitely contributed a lot to the songwriters. Taking their name from indigenous Australians meaning the severity of a freezing night requiring to sleep embracing a wild dog, they had numerous line-up changes but their sound have always been well appreciated and time tested too.

For anyone who is into rock, AC/DC requires no introduction. AC/DC is the most successful band to have emerged from Australia. Formed in 1973 by the Young brothers Malcolm and Angus, they have always proved themselves to be a true hard rock band despite numerous line-up changes. Their hallmark sound, the thundering beat drums, unique vocals of Bon Scott and Brian Johnson, the prototype school uniform worn by Angus and his unique guitar style, all add to their glory. With untimely accidental death of the singer Bon Scott due to heavy alcohol consumption overnight in 1980, the band had almost called it the day. However due to Scott’s parent’s persuasion, they rolled in Brian Johnson as Scott’s replacement and continued. Today, they are considered as one of the most successful and well respected heavy metal acts of all time. They have been ranked fourth by VH1’s “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock” and seventh by MTV’s “Greatest Heavy Metal Band of All Time”. Still going strong, their fan followers are increasing day by day.

Whenever one recalls “Wishbone Ash’, one is reminded of the trademark harmonious twin lead guitars of Andy Powell and Ted Turner. One of the most influential British rock bands of the mid seventies balancing between hard rock and progressive rock, Wishbone Ash are still going strong despite numerous line-up changes. They have always maintained a cult status among classic rock fans and they have been a source of inspiration for various dual guitar bands including Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden.
