When one talks about the glam rock era of the eighties, many bands come ringing our mind. Unfortunately, “Kix” is not one of them! Actually, they deserve much more than what they have got. A full on hard rock band with amazingly powerful rock numbers which really rocked, “Kix” definitely is worth more than just another rock band of the eighties. Although their power ballad “Don’t close your eyes” is the most well known record, they definitely have numerous wonderful numbers to their credit. Songs like “Tears down the walls”, “The itch”, “Cold shower”, “Midnight dynamite”, “The kid”, “Heartache” and others have made them unforgettable hard rock band of the eighties. Despite various line up changes, they are still around with occasional performances. Overall, their contribution to eighties rock definitely cannot be undermined.

Besides being inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for both the groups, he is also well known for photography, philanthropy as well as anti-war activism.

“Bob Seger” is an American rock singer and songwriter who was the prototype heart land rocker of the seventies. In his six decades plus career, he has sold more than 75 million records worldwide, establishing him as one of the world’s best-selling artists of all times. With numerous hit numbers like “Like a rock”, “Against the wind”, “Still the same”, “Night moves”, “Turn the page”, “Roll me away”, “Katmandu” etc to name a few, it is undoubtedly true that his contribution to the rock music has been phenomenal. Inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004 and 2012 respectively, he retired from the music scene in 2018.

“The Who”, one of the most influential rock acts of the twentieth century, were undoubtedly famous for diverse reasons- Loudest band, mods enthusiasm, great music and poetry, and of course, the prototype late sixties and seventies rock band. With sales more than 100 million records worldwide, they are definitely a source for inspiration all the rock bands of the past and the future. Originally formed from the ashes of earlier group “The Detours”, “The Who” had Pete Townshend on guitars, Roger Daltrey on vocals, John Entwistle (Bass) and Keith Moon (Drums). One of the most important pioneers of sixties psychedelic sound, “Jefferson Airplane” had it all-the sound, the voice, the lyrics as well as the instruments. Although their potential may not have been fully realized, their contribution in shaping the last sixties hippie sound could never be undermined.

They originated in 1965 under the leadership of Marty Balin in San Francisco, and several line up changes occurred during the coming years. Their debut album “Jefferson Airplane Takes Off” in 1966, could not generate much interest, although the lyrics change from the record labels considering it provocative, did fuel up the interest among the rock fans. Presently, their debut album with the original lyrics is collector’s item now. Their second album “Surrealistic Pillow” in 1967, indeed became their break-through album. They literally gained surrealistic popularity “Surrealistic Pillow” and become the first band to gain international acclaim from San Francisco Bay area. Subsequently with too much of name, fame, drugs, sex and rock and roll, tensions started to build up within the band members, leading to several line-up changes during the following years. And soon, with different band members going their own ways, they finally transformed to “Jefferson Starship” in 1972.
