“The Who”, one of the most influential rock acts of the twentieth century, were undoubtedly famous for diverse reasons- Loudest band, mods enthusiasm, great music and poetry, and of course, the prototype late sixties and seventies rock band. With sales more than 100 million records worldwide, they are definitely a source for inspiration all the rock bands of the past and the future. Originally formed from the ashes of earlier group “The Detours”, “The Who” had Pete Townshend on guitars, Roger Daltrey on vocals, John Entwistle (Bass) and Keith Moon (Drums). The powerful quartet was famous for their music, their crazy stage acts and fabulous improvisations on stage.

                          Do I have to come right out and say it

 “Buffalo Springfield” is undoubtedly the one and only pioneers of the folk rock, who lasted for two years only, produced three albums only but has become the source of inspiration for all the rock stars for the ensuing decades, till this date. Formed in 1966 by the veteran musicians Stephen Stills (Guitars, keyboards, vocals), Neil Young (Guitar, harmonica, piano, vocals), Richie Furay (Guitars, vocals), Dewey Martin (Drums, vocals) and Bruce Palmer (Bass) in Los Angeles, USA, this short lived American Canadian band had the most successful single “For what its’ worth”, one of the most iconic anti-war cum protest song of all times. The band had immense potential, but sadly could not last long, with all the members going to become more successful in their own ways. However, their contribution and inspiration to the future rock world can never be disregarded.

                                                 Moonlight feels right

 

“Starbuck” shall be absolutely an unfamiliar name to most of the rock fans, however, the prototype one hit band have their own place in the rock world. Formed in Georgia in 1974 by keyboardist Bruce Blackman and marimba player Bo Wagner, they were a pop rock/soft rock band and had few hit numbers. Although, they had only three albums, they were quite successful and they continued touring and reunited briefly in the present decade. Besides the founding members, they had numerous line- up changes. With the death of Wagner in 2017, they have practically stopped producing music.

Although the surviving members occasionally continue their tours, their heydays of the seventies could never be repeated.
