Dust in the wind

Reviewers- Bikash Shrestha/Nirab Kayastha

“Kansas” is one of the most well known AOR/progressive rock band, which gained much popularity during late seventies. Formed in Topeka in 1970, they originally comprised of Kerry Livgren (Guitars), Dave Hope (Bass) and Phil Ehart (Drums). Later, addition of Robbie Steinhardt (Violin), then Steve Walsh (Vocals) and Richard Williams (Guitars) completed the line up. With nine gold albums, three multi platinum albums, one platinum album, they have conquered the rock scene of the late seventies and eighties. However, in due course of time, they had numerous changes but they are still going strong with many newer artists. Dwindling between AOR/Pop rock and progressive rock, they had numerous noteworthy songs which are still regularly played on the classic rock stations.

“Bachman Turner Overdrive” is a classic rock band of the seventies from Winnipeg, Canada. After Randy Bachman quit “The Guess Who,” he was looking for opportunity and after various tryouts, he subsequently formed the BTO with his brothers Tim Bachman (Guitars), Robbie Bachman (Drums) and C. Fred Turner (Vocals/bass). Subsequently they were one of the most successful rock bands of the seventies to emerge from Canada. With 5 albums among top 40 and 6 singles among US top 40, they sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Their famous singles like “You ain’t seen nothing yet,” “Let it ride,” “Hey you,” “Takin’ care of business” etc receive significant air play in classic rock stations even today. Having endured several line-up changes, they are active to this day.
