Poco might sound odd to many rock fans, but they were the pioneers who paved the pathway for a completely entire genre – Country Rock in the early seventies. Yes, The Eagles were the brand of Country Rock, but it was Poco who began the journey of Country Rock. Founded after the break up of Buffalo Springfield in 1968, Poco comprised of Riche Furay (Vocals and Rhythm guitar), Jim Messina (Lead Guitar and Vocals), Rusty Young (Pedal steel guitar and vocals), Randy Meisner (Bass and Vocals) and George Grantham (Drums and vocals). They were initially named Pogo (Pogo comic strip character) but changed it to Poco after the Pogo creator Walt Kelly threatened to sue over the name. Despite various line up changes, they have been touring till present and have had numerous hit numbers to their credit.
