Tonight

Raspberries are the pioneer prototype power pop of the early seventies who scored a number of hit numbers during their short span of career. Reviving the British invasion era with their clean-cut image and short pop songs with catchy melody and crunchy guitar, the Raspberries have been able to leave unforgettable mark in the seventies rock scene. With songs like “Go all the way”, “Overnight sensation”, “I wanna be with you”, “Let’s pretend”, “Tonight”, and others, the Raspberries have immortalized themselves among all the classic rock fans forever.

Two guitar lovers

Dave Mason is a versatile guitar player with the entire career of a band member, session worker as well as a solo artist. Perhaps better known as the founding member of the band “Traffic”, formed in 1967, along with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood. However, his tenure in Traffic had been quite erratic. He left the band immediately after their debut album Mr. Fantasy in 1967. He came back again for their next album “Traffic” in 1968 and quitted again. It would be a surprise to many that he was a good friend of Jimi Hendrix and both had listened to Bob Dylan’s “All along the watchtower” together and recreated Hendrix’s version, along with Mason’s 12 string acoustic guitar. He has provided his guitar contribution to many artists including The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, Derek and The Dominos to name a few. He had few hit singles like “We juts disagree”, “Only you know and I know”, “Will you still love me tomorrow”, “Let it go, let it flow.” For many, Dave Mason is just another shadowed seventies’ musician. However, for those, who know him, his contribution to the seventies rock is just too immense and can never be undermined.

Get together

For many rock fans, “The Youngbloods,” is not a common name. However, their hit “Get together”, is definitely the one which most would remember. Yes, they are perhaps a one hit wonder band, but this should not discount their other fabulous numbers. The band was formed in 1965 by Jessie Colin Young (Bass) and Jerry Corbitt (Vocals, lead guitar, piano, harmonica) as a duo to begin with. Soon they added multi-instrumentalist Lowell Levinger “Banana” and Joe Bauer in drums and the band became complete. They had relatively few albums to their name during the late sixties and early seventies. Although few in number, their albums are worth collecting in classic rock’s shelves. Their debut album in 1967, “The Youngbloods”, later renamed “Get Together” is the most successful one but later albums like “Earth Music”, “Elephant Mountain” are also lovely in their own way.

Nobody’s fool

“Slade,” the undisputed king of the British early glam rock era in the seventies, is a band which is famous for their numerous hit singles. Formed in 1966 in Britain, with Noddy Holder (Vocals), Dave Hill (lead guitar), Jim Lea (Bass, piano) and Don Powell (Drums), they had 17 consecutive top 20 hits and six number one hits on the UK Singles Chart. They have been labelled the most successful British group on the basis of their singles sale. With many ups and downs, they are still going strong.Famous for their numbers like “Mama weer all craze now,” “Cum on feel the noize,” “My oh my,” their list of hit singles is actually too long to be mentioned here. From being inspirations for Nirvana to Def Leppard, from The Runaways to the Twisted Sisters, from Oasis to the Sex Pistols, Slade band members are famous not only for their music but also for their eccentric dressing sense and equally arresting misspelt song titles!!!
