I’m so proud

“Beck, Bogert & Appice” was the long cherished dream of one of the greatest rock guitar virtuosos – Jeff Beck. He wanted to form a super group of powerful trio with Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice since 1969. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the dream was finally realized only in 1973 after the trio toured together as Jeff Beck Group. There are people who like them, there are people who don’t, but there are no people who would not respect them. With subtlety of Bogert’s bass and thunderous novelty of Appice’s drums, Jeff Beck’s guitars could have catapulted the trio like anything; however, unfortunately, the band was dissolved eccentrically in 1974 by Beck after their only debut studio album and few tours and live albums.

Their only studio album “Beck, Bogert & Appice” is a mesmerizing conglomerate of heavy blues with charismatic rock guitar crafted by the master himself. With renditions of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” and Curtis Mayfield’s “I’m so proud” and powerful original number like “Lady”, this album definitely deserves a place in true classic rock collection’s cherished shelf!

“I’m so proud” was written by Curtis Mayfield and originally recorded by “The Impressions” in 1964. Being a soul group, the song had the typical soulful tinge of a romantic ballad. With the addition of rock flavors from “Beck, Bogert & Appice”, the song has been amazingly revitalized. A simple ballad praising the love, the song is any teenager’s fantasy. With Bogert’s bass, Appice’s subtle voice and steadily beating drums, and Beck’s guitar charisma, the song just gets out of the world. Moving slowly, seductively, the trio renders the soul ballad to one amazingly soulful blues masterpiece.

Beginning slowly with Bogert’s bass and Beck’s guitar, the song takes a leap with Appice’s drums and vocals. Relatively a short number, the intricately crafted solo by Beck, and Appice’s delivery makes the song stick into any listener’s heart permanently. Yes, “Beck, Bogert & Appice” debuted with one album and ended their career with the same one, but their song “I’m so proud” is one song which definitely would make their fans proud of them forever!!!

Happy listening!!!

I’m so proud

You been all the world
And I’m so proud (I’m so proud)
I’m so proud of you
You are just one fellow’s girl
And I’m so proud (I’m so proud)
I’m so proud of you
I’m so proud of being loved by you

It would hurt, hurt to know
That you ever were untrue
Sweeter than the taste of a cherry so sweet
And I’m so proud girl (I’m so proud)
Believe me I love you so
I’m so proud of being loved by you

In my heart you’re my special girl
And I’m so proud (I’m so proud)
Believe me I love you so

What it’s means to you all the people we meet
And I’m so proud (I’m so proud)
I’m so proud of you
I’m so proud of being loved by you
Oh by you
I’m so proud of being loved by you

Proud, proud, proud,

Oooh……proud, oooh……proud

Oooh……proud, oooh…..proud

Oooh……proud, oooh…..proud
