“Scorpions” are one of the most popular hard rock/heavy metal bands from the late sixties and going on strong till present. Formed in 1965 by Rudolf Schenker in Germany, they were able to establish themselves as hard rock band from the early days. However, with addition of Rudolf’s brother Michael Schenker as guitarist and Klaus Meine as vocalists, the band skyrocketed from Germany into the entire world. Various line-up changes followed during their career. The addition of Matthias Jabs as lead guitarist in 1978 shifted the band into more heavy metal sound along with prototype hard rock ballads. Endowed with total 18 studio albums till date, they have had numerous accolades and loyal fan following all over the world. They have been considered as “The Heroes of Heavy Metal” by The Rolling Stones and “Ambassadors of Rock” by MTV and were ranked 46th on VH1’s Greatest Artists of hard Rock.

“Elton John”, born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, is one of the richest acts in the music industry. Born in Middlesex with troubled childhood, he was a musical prodigy as a child. He began his unique song writing partnership with Bernie Taupin in his early career and the duo became one of the most successful song writing partnerships ever which has lasted for more than 50 years. Undoubtedly famous for his numerous hits, extravagant stage shows, flamboyant lifestyle, proclaimed bisexuality and gay marriage, political controversies, along with love for football, charity work and AIDS foundation, he has definitely lived the life of a King!

Tenderness

Reviewers- Bikash Shrestha/Nirab Kayastha

“Steppenwolf” is a household name in a hard core rocker’s house. Formed as a Canadian-American rock band in 1967 by John Kay (Vocals), Michael Monarch (Guitars), Rushton Moreve (Bass), Goldy McJohn (Keyboards) and Jerry Edmonton (Drums), they ruled the rock world between their heydays from 1968 to 1972. With various line up changes, they are still going strong. They are the band which created worldwide success with the song “Born to be wild.” This song was released in 1968 and used in the movie “Easy Rider” in 1969 and has always been associated with bikers and prototype counter culture. Their other notable contributions include “Magic carpet ride”, “The pusher”, “Rock me”, “Sookie sookie” etc. They had numerous hit singles but they shall always be remembered as the band which created the first heavy metal song “Born to be wild” (Not in musical style but in description).

Take a look around

Reviewers- Bikash Shrestha/Nirab Kayastha

“James Gang” is a prototype classic rock band of the late sixties from Cleveland, Ohio. This is the band which gave name and fame to Joe Walsh, later of the Eagles and an accomplished solo artist. Formed in 1966 by drummer Jimmy Fox, along with Greg Grandillo (Guitars), Ronnie Silverman (Guitars), Tom Kriss (Vocals/bass) and Phil Giallombardo (Keyboards/vocals), the band had several line-up changes before their debut album. Joe Walsh had joined them in 1968 as fifth member of James Gang. However, Giallombardo quit and the quartet remained. In 1969, during their concert as opening band for “Cream”, Silverman too let them down at the last minute and walked out. Desperate for money, they performed as a trio and subsequently, they continued as trio as they liked their power packed trio sound. This line up was changed soon with replacement of Tom Kriss with Dale Peters. This line up produced their most famous second album “James Gang Rides Again.” Later on, they had several changes and produced some more albums during the seventies. But their unique sound and fame was credited to the era of power packed trio with Joe Walsh. With hit singles like “Funk #49”, “Walk away”, James Gang does deserve honorable mention in the rock world.
